Here at I-Sells, as the number 1 supplier of venting and ducting solutions in the UK, we endeavour to bring you the necessity of a properly ventilated home alongside all of the benefits that can be experienced. In this article, we will be answering the question ‘What does a drimaster do?”
All of the solutions we offer are in an effort to disrupt the environment necessary for mould to formulate, as mould can have serious health implications as well as spread easily if left unattended.
Alongside mould control, our venting and ducting solutions also aid in the removal of condensation, retention (and in some cases addition) of heat, and the removal of stale air in your home.
With that being said, let’s address one of our solutions, the Nuaire Drimaster, by explaining what it is and how it works.
What is a Drimaster? And what does a Drimaster do?
Drimaster-Eco Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) ventilation systems are the most effective method of curing and preventing condensation dampness. Invented by Nuaire and installed in thousands of dwellings each year, PIV can be a more cost-effective and simple to install ventilation solution, whilst still meeting building regulations.
So what does a Drimaster do? Essentially the concept is to introduce fresh, filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging the movement of air from inside to outside.
To achieve this, the unit is mounted in the loft space, drawing air through the filters and inputting it, at ceiling level, into the property. An integrated heater tempers airflow should the temperature in the loft space drop below a set point, ensuring ultimate comfort in the home.
The result of this airflow is a reduction in condensation and humidity, a key factor in preventing the cultivation of mould.
Here are some benefits of a Drimaster:
- Cures condensation dampness – PIV reduces the humidity in the air, curing condensation dampness and preventing mould growth
- Improved indoor air quality and healthy living environment- Indoor pollutants from cooking and cleaning, as well as outdoor pollutants including pollen and Radon gas, are eradicated from the home
- A Unique cost-effective solution
- Meets Regulations – Meets Part F & L of Building Regulations as a low-energy ventilation strategy
- Easy & simple installation – Typically installed in under one hour
- Modern, sleek circular diffuser – Provides occupant acceptability
- System controls located in the ceiling diffuser for easy commission and access for maintenance checks
- Filter change indicator – To ensure optimum performance is maintained
- Low maintenance – Filter clean or replacement every five years
- Energy efficient – System goes into standby during warmer months when there is no evidence of condensation
- Clinically proven to help allergy and asthma sufferers
- 7-year warranty: 1-year parts and labour, remaining 6 years parts only
At I-Sells we supply 7 different model types, which we will share with you below.

Nuaire Drimaster Eco Hall Control Diffuser Positive Input Ventilation Unit
The Nuaire Drimaster Eco Hall Control Diffuser Positive Input Ventilation Unit has the added benefit of having the system controls located in the contemporary ceiling diffuser. This unique feature bestows the homeowner with complete control of the unit, without having to enter the loft space.
Not only can settings be altered with the push of a button on the contemporary diffuser, but there is also a 7-segment display which notifies the user of the need for filter change and what setting the Drimaster is running on.
The DRIMASTER-ECO range provides whole-home ventilation using the Positive Input Ventilation principle, which introduces fresh filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging movement of air from inside to outside. Click here to view on our site.
Drimaster Eco Heat Positive Input Ventilation Unit With Integral 400W Heater By Nuaire
The Drimaster Eco Heat Positive Input Ventilation Unit incorporates all of the functions of our DRI-ECO-LINK-HC unit but with the benefit of an integrated heating element, located between the flexible duct and ceiling diffuser.
This heating component will temper the air which is distributed through the property via the ceiling diffuser, thus ensuring a comfortable living environment. This pioneering design sees the low-watt heater (400w) react efficiently and effectively, guaranteeing an economically friendly product.
A temperature sensor on the outside of the unit monitors and controls the heater output to maintain the set point. The set point ranges from 5° to 15° and can be adjusted from the ceiling diffuser. If the temperature at the heater outlet is above the set point, the heater will not activate. To browse more details, click here
Nuaire Drimaster Eco 3S Loft Control 3 Storey Property Positive Input Ventilation Unit
The Nuaire Drimaster Eco 3S Loft Control 3-Storey Property Positive Input Ventilation Unit is the only unit within the DRIMASTER-ECO range which is suitable for installation within three-storey properties, by using an intumescent aluminium diffuser in order to meet fire regulation standards.
The unit itself works by drawing fresh air in from the loft space and dispersing it through the property via a powder-coated ceiling diffuser, which provides a 1-hour fire-block. This technology is fundamental to the well-being of the homeowner and allows Nuaire to offer a ventilation solution for every property type. Click here to browse.
We also have the option of having a heated version of this Drimaster, click here to view
Running costs between 5 and 10p per day dependent on the electrical supplier and heating and speed setting.
Nuaire Drimaster Eco Basic Loft Control Positive Input Ventilation Unit
The Nuaire Drimaster Eco Basic Loft Control Positive Input Ventilation Unit is our basic unit which provides all of the benefits of Positive Input Ventilation, offering system controls on the unit within the loft space.
Whilst the controls offer variable options, when the Drimaster is installed the system should be set to a speed that is suitable to the property meaning access to the loft is only necessary for the replacement of filters. Click here to view the full specifications.
Nuaire Drimaster Eco Link Hall Control Positive Input Ventilation Unit
The Nuaire Drimaster Eco Link Hall Control Positive Input Ventilation Unit offers its long-standing PIV technology alongside innovative remote control and sensor capabilities.
By offering a choice of interactive sensors, Nuaire has created an adaptable, market-leading PIV product. Homeowners can choose to use one or all of the sensors available for optimum system performance, in addition to the unique controls cited in our re-designed, modern ceiling diffuser. Nuaire Drimaster Eco Heat with Hall Diffuser Control (not wireless)
This unit also comes with a 7-segment display in the ceiling diffuser, offering complete control at the touch of a button without needing access to the unit located in the loft space. A lock function can be used to ensure the system remains tamper-proof.
Our range of DRIMASTER-ECO units is fitted with an internal temperature sensor. This sensor continuously monitors the temperature in the loft, boosting the air volume when the loft temperature is above a set level.
If the loft temperature becomes excessive the unit will switch to standby mode (no airflow). Once installed, the airflow can be set to suit the house size and, if required, the way it responds to the temperature changes within. To view this product and more information, click here
Installing a Drimaster
![man adjusting ventilation tubing at home](https://www.i-sells.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/shutterstock_167703644.jpg)
The Drimaster units (positive input ventilation PIV) only have 1 vent. So installation is very fast. This is due to them not needing ducting as it only has 1 output vent. Someone who likes DIY can do this in a few hours.
Self-installation can be done with a handy guide by the manufacturer
If hiring someone, you will need an electrician to add power & sockets in the loft. If you already have power in the loft, then the process will be straightforward.
Overall, hiring someone would be £200-£500 to install a Drimaster unit. Heat recovery options are more expensive to install simply because they need ducting and vents installed in every room or several rooms, several input and output vents. Due to it being ‘whole house’ ventilation.
