Always get a qualified electrician for fitting the unit!
The unit is supplied with a pre-wired power supply. This power supply unit has a metal bracket incorporating fixing holes, which should be used to fit the power supply to a suitable surface, e.g. a wooden joist.
The fan unit is also supplied with a fused spur. The 3 core mains cable from the power supply should be connected to a fixed wiring installation, via the isolator, via the spur, in accordance with current IEE wiring regulations.

The Nuaire Drimaster Eco Link, when fitted in the landing ceiling of a 3-bed semi, will primarily focus on improving ventilation and reducing condensation in the main house areas. However, its effectiveness in reaching and clearing condensation in a conservatory is limited. Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) units like the Drimaster work best when they can distribute air throughout an enclosed area.
Conservatories, especially if separated by doors, may not receive enough airflow from a landing-installed PIV unit. For effective condensation control in the conservatory, you might consider a separate dedicated ventilation solution, like a single room heat recovery unit if space to do so.. or a humidity controlled extractor fan ...or a small PIV unit

We are looking at purchasing this.. so we wnt up into the loft. I think you oculd grow tomatoes up there, with at least 12 inches at least of insulation right to the edge of the join between roof and insulation which is packed into the corner. Does not help having the boiler in loft too! So I was thinking to put some roof tiles with vents. Depends again on how many we would need. Any ideas on how to calculate that based on fro example loft area?
Also airflow performance 10 and 60 is that litres per minute airflow?

When laying insulation in the loft, it is incredibly important not to block of the vents, as they allow air to flow in to out out of the loft space, allowing it to breath, and prevent condensation forming, which could have a detrimental impact on the roof beams. Personally, I would look at finding where the vents are (possibly under the felt lining) and pull the insulation back a little at these points, so to allow the loft to breath again. Failing that, it might be worth speaking to Nuaire Technical on 02920 858400 (option 2) and supply them the loft dimensions and see what they suggest.Kind regards, Marc

I have a 3 bedroom, 2 storey, detached house (circa 1950) with double-glazed windows, insulated loft and insulated cavity walls.
I have had quite bad condensation (mainly on windows) and some mould problems (mainly behind furniture, in some cupboards, etc) which I think may be related to high humidity / lack of ventilation (even though I have humidistat fans in the bathroom and kitchen and open windows, etc). These are particularly bad in the colder months.
Please confirm if this is likely to be the cause and if installing a PIV unit (would a Nauire unit be the most appropriate?) should solve these problems.
The height of the ceiling above the stairwell (on the landing) is 2.4m. My main questions are which unit would be most suitable please?
Would I need the heater version (Ive read some reviews saying the standard units can cause a cold draught in the winter - is this correct please?)
Also, looking at the various options, would you recommend the associated boost switch and/or the humidity sensor unit.
Regarding the location of the unit, please note that part of the landing ceiling has a structural joist (covered) projecting down by 160mm (this is to one side of the centre), a hanging ceiling light and a smoke detector. I can send a photograph and/or dimensions if necessary.

Read moreanswer nowA Hello Mike, Condensation and mould are directly linked to periods of high humidity and are indeed a product of inadequate ventilation. The overrun timers for the bathroom fans may need increasing as a first step. The Drimaster is a means of increasing the provision of fresh filtered air and enhancing the efficiency of existing extract ventilation, we have no doubt in confirming the installation would drastically decrease the condensation problems you are experiencing.The with/without heater issue should be determined by where thediffuser is to be located. The unit is designed to introduce air at high level and in houses, when heating is used, the warmest air naturally rises to ceiling height thestairwell ceiling generally being the highest point in a house therefore playshost to some of the warmest air in the dwelling, the benefit of which, is notfelt. If the input can be located at this level the incoming air is immediatelytempered and redistributed. This type of installation would NOT require theheater version. In a single floor property with lower ceilings 2.4m the air atceiling height is less warm and the heat transfer to incoming air is reducedand in this case consideration for including the heater may be given. However, if cooler air was being introduced over any length of time it would be muchmore cost effective to compensate by temporarily increasing the heating by acouple of degrees than running the heater option.

Our ceiling height on the landing is about 3.5m high. Presume we should opt for the drimaster eco-link-hc over the NUADRI-ECO-HEAT-HC as our landing height and also the fact we have a radiator on the landing and hall would mean the hot air would rise?
I cant find anything to do with how much power this takes to run and if its more efficient than the heat option?
Cant understand how the humidity sensor works - can we set it to turn on the fans if the house rises above 55%?

Due to me not being able to fine a measurementanswer nowA Hi Andrew Invariably the highest ceiling height in a house is at the top of the stair well. When heating is on warm air rises and if the loft is adequately insulated this warm air gathers at the highest point of the dwelling and the benefit is not felt by the occupants. The input air diffuser installed at that level is designed to mix with and redistribute this heat. Ceiling height in modern (ish) dwellings is approximately 2.4/2.5 metres anything above this could be described as a high ceiling.

Could 2 units be installed (at either end of property) but still be linked to 1 control unit?answer nowA Hello James Providing the loft is very well ventilated two units would not be counter efficient if both were located in (and drawing air from) the same loft void, however, we would suggest that your property would have to be very large to warrant two units. If the input can be located centrally, the pressure should move throughout the ground floor sufficiently to control condensation problems provided bathroom and kitchen extraction are working and efficient.

Thanks Timanswer nowA Hello TimTo answer your questions in order:-The unit can be wired through a fused spur from the lighting circuit.It is supplied with 2 metres of flexible duct so that it can be hung from ceiling joists this is the recommended duct length though this can be cut down if required.The unit speed settings are accessible at the diffuser for programming and there are also separate control options:-2 way boost switch (QS45550)4 Way boost and heater control (45551)Relative Humidity Sensor (45552) and C02 Sensor (45553)

Also how oftern do you need to change the filters as they seem a little costly. Or would it be best to use another prouduct.Thanks regards steve.

It is also best installed in a hallway where doors to several other rooms are located. You describe only one bedroom affected so does this mean there are no problems in any other room? If that is the case, perhaps a single room heat recovery ventilator may be a better option as it is guaranteed to control condensation and mould in any room in which it is installed.
The product description for this model straws: with optional sensors and controllers but i cant see anywhere what these are. The picture of optional controllers i assume cost extra. Can you clarify please?
I assume that for an extra £40 the link model has the capacity to connect to the optional products which can be purchased separately. Is that correct?

What are the noise levels as my application is for our main bedroom i.e. will I hear it?answer nowA HI DenisThe unit description is that it is compatible with all of the remote control options and as far as I can see they are hard wired except the DRI ECO RM which is a monitoring device not a control.The speed setting is programmed from the input diffuser and usually set during installation, for remote speed control DRI ECO 2S switch has a boost option which will speed up the fan without reprogramming.The recommendation is for the unit to be suspended from rafters so motor noise should not be detectable on the lower settings.You mention the application is for the main bedroom, please note it is not a single room machine, the installation recommends the input diffuser is located centrally such as the top of the stairwell to take advantage of warm air convection the positive pressure will filter into all rooms from a central location.
