I’d like to leave feedback for Paul Gallagher.
I purchased a Kair unit from Kiltox after receiving advice from a surveyor. The information I’d already received seemed very daunting to a ‘layman’ but Paul helped me through the process and kindly showed great patience when answering my questions.
The service was very attentive and delivery very efficient.

Although it’s early days yet (i’ve only had your system installed only a few weeks), I have noticed a marked difference in the house. It seems to be doing the job it’s designed for. I haven’t opened a window for 3 or 4 weeks now. There is no condensation on any of the windows and the house feels warm and fresh throughout.
I first heard about your company from total strangers. I was waiting for a train and started chatting to a middle aged couple. They asked me why I’d move from Bristol to Carmarthenshire and was I glad thatI had. I said Yes

This heat recovery fan was awkward to fit due to the 750mm random rubble stone wall ! ! ! This would have been the same for any fan.
The room is in the basement and its used as a sewing room with masses of expensive material stored in it – damp not wanted in here!!
I sealed the concrete floor with a two pack epoxy and carpet tiled it. But ventilation was the problem. KAIR information was comprehensive and the fan cost more than a simple humidity fan.
IT IS BRILLIANT – once installed and the humidity set on the edge of slow to fast we moved all the material into the room. Well we waited two weeks with the room closed up. The fan went from slow to fast at will. The sewing room was set up and the fan re-adjusted for occupancy.
In the depths of winter, wet rather than cold, the fan warmed the air coming in and took stale and moist air out 24 hrs a day.
The fan goes into fast mode the minute the steam iron is switched on, before you even notice the steam.
I would recommend this Kair Heat Recovery fan to anyone with similar room needs. I’m so glad that I didn’t waste money on some bathroom fan that would do the job.
Sewing room fully operational, no sign of damp, air fresh and never stuffy, ten Brownie points for me with such a good job done.

This is intended as a long term solution to a severe condensation problem in a couple of Victorian bedrooms. It will need a month or so to determine whether it is successful or not. The product has the recommendation of Wykamol and various other damp experts so my expectations are high. Installation and electrical connections very straightforward.

When I took hold of the box from the courier, I wondered what could justify a cost for such a light parcel. And when I opened the box and looked at the contents, I thought it all the more so. For considerably less money, one could buy a dehumidifier; on the other hand, I have seen passive air-brick filters with a vapour-permeable membrane for sale for £90. Nevertheless, having fitted the unit and its transformer-sensor unit, I believe you simply have to forget about the cost and enjoy its benefits.
I fitted the unit in my kitchen, having removed an inadequate standard fan, which I never used. Instead, I had previously used an Ebac Powerpac 21 dehumidifier. It did its job slowly and reasonably effectively, although it felt like a battle that could never be won To get a feel for how rapidly the humid air in the kitchen could be cleared, one only had to open the back door and watch the humidity meter drop almost like a brick. The dehumidifier could take two hours or more to achieve the same result., if it ever did
I had known about heat-recovery ventilation for a few years and finally decided to try it. Having removed the old fan, I very carefully stitch-drilled the brickwork to open up the holes. The ventilator unit is cleverly designed; for example, the front panel is spring loaded allowing the panel to sit flush with the wall whilst the body of the unit slopes very slightly downwards to the outer wall so any water drains out. Unless you cut the power to the unit, it runs all the time; when seemingly off, it is silently running in trickle mode, and when on, it is in boost mode – either automatically selected by the sensor unit, or manually selected by the user using the pull cord. There is a fuse in the sensor unit, which is in the factory-set position of a fast trickle and one has the option to move it into the slow-trickle fuse-holder. This is what I did and and most happy with the slow trickle: it silently brings in fresh air without making the room cold. I have to admit I was skeptical about this, expecting to come down to a cold kitchen in the morning, but not a bit of it.
The unit has now operated in cold but dry wintry weather and also in cold and wet wintry weather and, much to my pleasant surprise, especially in the wet weather, the unit performs extremely well, far surpassing my expectations. It took only a couple of adjustments of the thumb-wheel to set the unit so it wasn’t too sensitive or too insensitive. Now as soon as a pan starts to boil, the fan comes on. If there is so much cooking that the kitchen heats up by a couple of degrees, the control unit can turn the fan off for a while until the humidity increases yet further; this is just the nature of the temperature characteristics of the humidity sensor. This is easily pre-empted by pulling the boost cord after the fan comes on; the boost cord is a manual over-ride and the fan will stay on until the cord is pulled a second time My thumb-wheel is set to 58 and I expect that as the warmer weather comes along I may need to tweak it to a slightly higher setting to avoid it coming on too frequently. But as someone who prefers to have as much manual control as possible over devices, the thumb-wheel gives total control of the humidity setting at which the ventilation unit switches on, and I don’t expect to have to alter it more than twice a year to the optimum position for the ambient temperature.
I used to think the dehumidifier was reasonably effective at reducing moisture in the kitchen, but this heat-recovery ventilator has set this into perspective. It has also freed up floor space and is a lot quieter; I’m also sure that there will be a noticeable saving in electricity, too.; there has been no need to run the cooker hood since I fitted the ventilator, and the rest of the house, including the bedroom is less humid, so there has been much less need to run the dehumidifier in that room. The adjoining lounge is now much dryer than it had been beforehand. It was very satisfying installing the ventilator and its control unit, and it has been even more satisfying seeing its benefits, including not coming down to wet windows in the morning after drying washing overnight. It’s also worth mentioning that the staff at Kair were exceptionally helpful both before I bought the unit, answering my various questions and setting my mind at rest, and also duting the fitting of the unit when I wanted to seek clarification of a couple of points.
My wife is delighted with the unit and it will take a long time for her to get over its novelty and all the more so for having the dehumidifier out of the way. In short, I cannot fault this heat-recovery ventilator in any way, and I wish I’d installed one years ago.

Had the product for a couple of weeks half installed and now fully installed.
There were a couple of things people need to be aware of. First is it is a 6 core rather than the 4 core my old extractor in the bathroom was. The second is it needs to have about 12 of wall behind it rather than the double thickness brick wall we had in the Victorian house. As the whole thing needs to be in the wall our electrician had to get a suitable box to put behind it and insulate it so that it behaved properly.

This is the fifth unit I’ve bought, to fit yet another room. This ventilator ensures that, in conjunction with suitable insulation and correct radiator positioning (that means, radiators under the windows, not on inside walls), there is no condensation and mould in the room, not even if living at a seaside location.
I have fitted the first room in 2011 and no problems with any of the units so far.

The service and the product quality is great.
while it took me a long time to leave a review for this HRV unit I shall believe it is worth taking time to read and hopefully will assist all future byres that will need one .
I am Mechanical engineer and initially was skeptical about the HRV unit. this has been installed in my childrens’ bedroom and it is very quiet when in standard – background mode. The room has exposed ceiling, floor and a wall like an offset. This unit did overcome issues with mould and damp to its deep roots, ever since we are not having the issues that were present prior the installation of the HRV unit.
I do strongly recommend to all of those who may go through similar conditions which we went prior the damp issues.
this definitely works as I have given more than a year of use before I wrote this review which as you may see definitely deserves.

Not fitted yet as it is such a dated appearance I need to make a suitable cover for it.
And the control box looks even worse.
However, the method of operation looks good so I imagine that it will work well.

Having recently installed this to replace an old Vent-Axia fan that made a racket, after several weeks of use, seriously impressed at this fan. The ability to determine the humidity level at which to operate the boost mechanism is a serious plus point and this has proven to be extremely adaptable, Then there is the pull cord if you wish simply to give it a boost regardless of any humidity setting. Even in the boost mode it is still an effortlessly quiet device. It is clear from holding my hand in front of the inward air flow that that the heat exchanger is way more effective than in the old Vent-Axia. Fingers crossed regarding reliability and longevity.

Does not blow cold or even cool air at you, very important in a bathroom setting. Pretty quiet but not silent. Very efficient, especially considering the price.

An excellent product which hopefully will expel any moisture to prevent mould growth on a stairwell where it has been installed. My only gripe was installing it from the inside only as there was no access to the outer wall. (stairwell to flat a flat) Not as easy as was claimed; therefore only 4stars

Info about this product on the website looked straight forward but when the product arrived and looking into the instruction booklet for installation, it wasn’t straightforward and we had to seek advice to get info on how it should be installed. It’s quite fiddly. Took much longer than expected and so costs me more due to time taken with electrician. It is now summer so not really using it. I just hope it will work during the winter time to prevent condensation and mould.

Brilliant product. I got a bungalow of 8 flats in. In the past, every room has problems with condensation, humidity, mould. I tried many things to help combat this problem. However, every time I visited my tenants, i always felt the room air is humid and not having fresh air. I know opening the window could be solution but in winter time, no one like to do it.
I got 2 Kair to try first after speaking to Marc, I could felt the difference of air in the room. The room became less humid and the air has been fresher. After trying for 2 rooms, I decided to put the rest with this fan. The job was done today, I was very pleased as the air in all the rooms are really nice not like before. I highly recommend this product. Because the flat is self contained, so I was worried about the noise. Kair is very good as in normal mode, I hardly hear anything but when it is boost mode of course the noise is stronger but it will trick back to normal mode when the humidity is at set level. To install it is a bit hard as the old fan hole is smaller so we need to make it bigger but our electrician did it for us very well.
Thank you so much to Marc for giving useful advice and selling such a good product like this.
