GALVANISED SPIRAL DUCT
- Metal spiral ducting tube is ‘female’ – Fittings such as bends and reducers generally slip inside the duct tube.
- Non-Standard lengths are available upon request.
- Stainless steel and perforated versions are available on request.
- Produced in accordance with DW144 with a zinc coating weight of 275g/m2 to ensure long-life.

QHi, Is it possible to order a 1200mm length of the 250mm Galvanised spiral duct please?answer nowA Hello MikeGalvanised spiral duct, whatever the diameter, is produced in 3m lengths and to change this requires reprogramming the machine tooling settings, this is not impossible but only viable if producing large quantities so unfortunately 1.2m would not qualify.

This is equivalent free area, so given that we have a few metres of duct in between, I would be inclined to nearly double that. Can you accommodate 2 * 250mm x 100mm? can you let me know the sizes and costs of the ducts that are avaible. thanks

I will be mounting the MRXBOX95 in the loft on a disused (square) brick chimney the chimney is blocked up downstairs and will never be used again, but still has a flow of ventilating air from below. Would it be a bad idea to vent the stale extracted air in to this chimney as it would be very close to the top and relatively easy to do?

Regards Richardanswer nowA Hello RichardAll sounds fine in principal though we would suggest the exhaust air is directed up the chimney as opposed to just vented into it.The reason being that the exhaust is likely to carry water vapour and you need to avoid the possibility of condensation forming in the flue which may then run down the inside of the chimney.

If the temperature is less then 200degree c then this will be fine. If the temperature is higher than this then our stainless steel flue would be better for your application.
Can I use the 200mm galvanised steel ducting under ground for use with a kitchen down-draft extractor. It is going to be run under the concrete base of my extension to the wall where it will bend up and out to the external motor. The manual says I ideally need to use the 200mm or it will make the extractor more noisy.

Galvanised ducting is not suitable for concrete unless it is 1.5-2mm thick The ducting that we supply is 0.5mm and would have to be encased in a timber frame before concrete can be poured on top.

Im installing a chimney for my log burner and I am looking at using galvanised spiral duct. How air and exhaust tight are the joints. In fact how would you recommend I join it as I need 8 meters long with 2 off 45 degree elbows to correct some misalignment.
Heat should not be an issue as I have a copper coil on the outside surface of the first 2 meters to recover the chimney heat. Exit temperature should be less than 150 centigrade.
I also need a 150mm flue but thats from a wood AGA with back boiler so will also be low exhaust temp.

The spiral ducting is not suitable for your application. We do a stainless steel flue system which you can find on our web site under stainless steel flue. Bought One 3metre length of this spiral ducting for a kitchen cooker hood vent replacement for aluminum flexible ducting that had been holed. The product was delivered on time and as expected in good condition with only one small pea sized dent discovered only before cutting the ducting to size. I found the spiral ducting to be well made with a good finish, a quality item for the price. For others trying to manually cut this type of ducting square, a technique I used was to fit a suitable circular metal hose clip onto the spiral ducting making sure the clip was fitted square on the ducting to use as guide for cutting, making cuts with a hacksaw and rotating the ducting when the saw broke through the metal and repeating the procedure until the ducting was fully cut through. Be sure to remove any cutting burrs internally and externally with a file after cutting the ducting. Hope this review and comments others may find useful. John R.

Delivery very fast and the product well made, would suggest the duct ends need protection they were very bent over -took 3/4 hour to tap, tap them straight and round. Not so good if you have a lot of ducting. There is a method of protection using a plastic ring with a grove to maintain the integrity – pipeline companies use it. Very pleased the the end result and would buy again.
