Compact and aesthetically pleasing, this continuously running extractor fan has inbuilt energy and noise reduction technologies to limit cost and noise disturbance, all whilst continuously removing stale, moist old air from the property.
A humidity sensor intelligently reacts to a sudden increase in air moisture levels, temporarily boosting the fan to extract at a faster rate. This reduces the humidity levels in your home and prevents condensation and mould formation.
The unit is filterless as an extractor fan has no need to filter air being taken out of the property. As a result, this fan has the advantage of requiring no filter replacements, so there is less maintenance and the unit again saves you money, time and hassle.
The Kair Smart extractor fan has been created for the convenience of both homeowners and landlords alike. A busy household and an apartment full of tenants can function in much the same way, people cooking and showering at different times of the day creates a lot of condensation.
This powerful but quiet extractor fan will effortlessly handle even the busiest of properties.
What can it do?
The Kair Smart extractor fan intelligently reacts to a sudden increase in moisture and enables its “boost” function to extract at a much higher rate until the sensors detect the moisture levels have decreased a sufficient amount. This alleviates any concern over high humidity levels within the property, creating a far more pleasant living environment for families and tenants.
Should you feel that the humidity level in your property is too high, or you wish to clear out scents from the cooker or bathroom, you have the option of a pull cord or remote switch (depending on the install option you chose), giving you complete control and comfort.
You also have the ability to set the timer function for the fan, allowing you to decide how long the fan stays in “boost” mode for, after a shower for example. This can be connected to the light switch to enable the fan to run whilst someone is using the bathroom, and for a predetermined length of time after the light switch is turned off.

Will, it cost a lot to run?
The approximate running cost of the Smart fan is £1.66 pounds per annum.
Trickle Mode allows the fan to remove stale old air from your home with minimal energy consumption, so there is no fear of large bills as a result.
The boost function only kicks in when required, quickly eliminating excess moisture, reducing the time the unit needs to be working, thereby saving energy.
Humidistat, Pullcord, Timer, Night Time Delay and Constant Flow Sensor
Constant flow sensor – Sensors continuously monitor the environment, only boosting the fans extraction when necessary, reducing energy costs and eliminating condensation as soon as it develops.
The Kair Smart fan can be ceiling, wall or window mounted.
Window Mounted
A window kit (available separately) makes for a simple a speedy installation through any window in your property, allowing the option to still have an extractor fan when cutting through walls is not an option.
Ceiling Mounted
For ceiling or wall mounting, a 100mm (4inch) hole is either cut through the wall to the exterior of your property or through the ceiling into the loft cavity.
Wall Mounted
The fan can then be ducted straight through to the exterior or loft cavity with a simple external grille for more pleasing aesthetics.
Why Choose the Kair Smart Fan?
Very few extractor fans on the market can be described as “Smart”. The Kair Smart fan differs, it intelligently reacts to its environment, working almost autonomously because of its multiple sensors and the advanced technology associated with them.
Common activities increase the amount of moisture within a home, from washing machines, cooking or having a shower or bath.
It can also vary at any point through the day within a busy home or social housing situation due to peoples differing schedules and hygiene habits. This creates the perfect situation for mould to develop, as there is an abundance of warm and moist air in the property. There are also smells coming from the cooker that might be disagreeable to some of your family members or tenants.
- Ceiling, window or wall mounted extractor fan to suit any installation type (window kits available).
- Timers reduce night time activity – Prevents night-time noise and saves energy
- Humidistat measures moisture, only boosting the fan when required, saving energy
- Cost-effective due to low installation and maintenance costs, and energy-saving technology.
- Quiet and aesthetically pleasing
Please note, in order for the fan unit to function, the faceplate MUST be connected to the unit, this is a built-in safety feature.
Richard Clarke (verified owner) –
This extractor fan was bought to replace an outdated old-fashioned fixed speed fan that had given up the ghost after only 2 years and was not very good when it was working albeit noisily! The Kair Smart Fan CRE100HTP is feature packed and comes with a 5-year warranty! It can be installed in all sorts of locations; we are using it in a bathroom. It can be mounted traditionally through the wall or in the ceiling or loft floor and then ducted to the outside. The fan has a constant flow mode to overcome the static pressure that ducting adds see more about this further in the review. The fan can be fitted pretty much plug and play out of the box very simply by following the in depth installation guide that came in the box which explains all the features. Once everything was setup and running, we had the option to set the fan speed from the default speed to high speed by pressing the buttons, which adjust the speed output. In high there is a clearly audible rush of air through the fan and at low speed the airflow is just about audible inside the bathroom with no vibration but there is no sound outside the room. It was pretty much a straight swap from the previous fan. It is small, slim and when on you can just about hear it. I had to check to see if it was on. This is down to the DC Brushless Motor, which also happens to save energy in comparison to traditional noisy motors. The humidity sensor certainly works – after taking a shower or cooking in another room, moisture in the air is enough to activate the sensor and the fan starts to speed up this is known as the comfort boost mode, again fully configurable speed options. You do not even have to use the humidity function if you do not want. Instead, you could opt to just use the fan via a light switch or the pull cord but the humidity sensor is a feature that should be used as that is what makes this fan smart. There are standard boost speed options as well which is the speed the fan will run at when the pull cord or light switch has been activated (8, 13, 15, 18, 20 or 25 l/s) I like the design especially the magnetic cover, which clips into place and the fan will not run for safety if this is removed in use. The cover keeps everything tidy and sleek looking when in place. There are five fan speeds to choose from plus options to have the fan run constantly at a trickle speed (again configurable as to how much air it moves: 4, 6, 8, 10, 13 l/s or off.) Trickle ventilation is so important these days in our sealed up insulated homes, this ensures that a ‘trickle’ of air is constantly extracted from the home eliminating stale air which then causes mould and damp to develop. As mentioned earlier if you install the fan with ducting to the outside there are even options for the fan to run with a constant volume – great for long duct runs. This feature works via a pressure sensor built into the fan, This detects if the fan has to work harder or ease off dependant on atmospheric conditions, if it is windy outside it might need to run faster etc. or if all your internal doors are closed the fan will find it harder to move air at the set speed so it will speed up to be able to continue to pull the air at the rate you have set using the buttons. Likewise, in the summer if your doors and windows are open the fan will not have to work as hard to extract air, as there is less static pressure inside the room. Everything looks easy to clean, there are no nooks and crannies and a large air inlet grill behind the fascia panel will prove easy to keep clean with a brush or vacuum. Another great feature for property owners is the ability to view the run hours, so for example if you install this in a property, you own to control humidity and get complaints from the tenant that there is mould or damp in the bathroom this fan gives you the ability to see how many hours the fan has run for. Many times tenants turn these fans off to stop the air movement and this will show if the tenants are keeping the fan running or not using it. Without airflow or extraction, the indoor air quality will become very poor and lead to damp and mould and subsequent property damage. I would love to see a bigger version of this fan with a centrifugal impeller as this would be excellent for kitchens or larger rooms. The features of this fan make it easy to use especially the LED display that show you the options with large easy to press buttons. The addition of a backdraft shutter in the box would also be a good option to have especially on through the wall installations or if you do not use the trickle functions.
