Why would I need to put a damper in a kitchen extractor fan ducting system ?

Do these needed to be mounted verticle or horizontal? If a circular damper is used (manrose double flap, or single) do these need to be verticle. Just trying to order the correct ones. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advanceanswer nowA Hello Thank you for your question. All dampers have to be fitted horizontal so the air flows though. If fitted vertical the damper will be open all the time.
