Nuaire Drimaster Eco Heat
For homes with lofts – Whole House Condensation Control
The unique DRI-ECO-HEAT-HC incorporates all of the functions of our DRI-ECO-LINK-HC unit but with the benefit of an integral heating element, located between the flexible duct and ceiling diffuser.
This heating component will temper the air which is distributed through the property via the ceiling diffuser, thus ensuring a comfortable living environment. This pioneering design sees the low watt heater (400w) react efficiently and effectively, guaranteeing an economically friendly product.
A temperature sensor on the outside of the unit monitors and controls the heater output to maintain the set point. The set point ranges from 5° to 15° and can be adjusted from the ceiling diffuser. If the temperature at the heater outlet is above the set point, the heater will not activate.
Please note, it is not possible to retro-fit a heater to other Drimaster Eco models.
The DRIMASTER-ECO range provides whole home ventilation using the Positive Input Ventilation principle, which introduces fresh filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate, encouraging movement of air from inside to outside.

NUAIRE INVENTED PIV OVER 40 YEARS AGO
It has become the UK’s most popular alternative method of low energy, cost-effective ventilation!
Invented by Nuaire and installed in thousands of dwellings each year, PIV can be a more cost-effective and simple to install ventilation solution, whilst still meeting building regulations.
CREATES A HEALTHY LIVING ENVIRONMENT
MOISTURE AND CONDENSATION ARE DRIVEN OUT
The filtered air gently pressurises the home from inside out, forcing out the stale air.
NO NEED TO OPEN WINDOWS TO VENTILATE
Clean, fresh air is continuously drawn in through the lofts natural leakage points, passed through the filters and fed into the property via a central hallway diffuser.
Powerful Filters (Nox version only)
Two ePM10 filters are mounted on the side of the unit and incorporate an additional carbon filter in each, giving the highest quality filtration system available to any DrImaster unit, and significantly outperforming other market-leading PIV units.
Carbon pellets within the filters absorb harmful pollutant chemicals such as Nitrogen Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide commonly associated with busy built-up areas. The filters have been proven to reduce the levels of these chemicals found within the home by up to 80%.
The efficiency of the filters has been stringently tested by the BRE and shows a proven benefit to indoor air quality.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Always get a qualified electrician for fitting the unit!
The unit is supplied with a pre-wired power supply. This power supply unit has a metal bracket incorporating fixing holes, which should be used to fit the power supply to a suitable surface, e.g. a wooden joist.
(Please note, brackets to mount the Drimaster to wooden loft beams are not included.)
The fan unit is also supplied with a fused spur. The 3 core mains cable from the power supply should be connected to a fixed wiring installation, via the isolator, via the spur, in accordance with current IEE wiring regulations.
- To install the diffuser, cut out a section of the ceiling in the central position of your landing hallway. If possible, at least 1m away from a smoke alarm or CO2 monitor.
- In the loft cavity, mark the centre point between two joists, and drill a hole in the centre point.
- Using the diffuser template provided, line up the centre point, and mark out the section to be cut out of the ceiling.
- 4. Cut out the section of ceiling ready for the diffuser, then fit the diffuser into the hole, and secure with the screws and plasterboard plugs provided.
- Once the diffuser is secured, fit the ducting over the heater and over the screws, then attach the supplied cable tie below the screws to secure the duct to the heater.
- Connect the data cable to the diffuser interface panel, then the heater to the diffuser.
- Attach the ducting to the fan, and secure using a cable tie.
- Fix a screw to a convenient joist near the diffuser. If possible, suspending the unit approx 2/3 of the loft height to capitalise on solar gain, making sure the duct is not overstretched.
- Ensure that the filters are fitted securely.
- When the unit is in position, connect the data cable from the heater to the unit, then the heater mains cable back to the unit.
- Ensure there is a minimum of 50mm between the heat power and data cable.
- Before connecting the drimaster eco to the phase connection unit, check that supply voltage is correct. Isolate at the mains before connecting the drimaster to the fuse connection unit. Then re-instate the power supply.
- Running costs dependent on electrical supplier and heating and speed setting.
Optional Controllers & Sensors
The Drimaster RF system can simultaneously accommodate one DRI-ECO-RH, one DRI-ECO-CO2 and one switch type, either DRI-ECO-2S pr DRI-ECO-4S. Multiple devices of the same type are not supported.

We have tried everything possible to clear up our condensation over the years. De humidifiers, window vents, larger extractor fans in kitchen and bathroom, soffit vents, roof vents you name it and we have tried it. Talking to our new neighbour who told me that he fitted one of these in his previous property and he never had condensation problems. Well we took his advice and bought one. The morning after fitting this we couldnt believe our eyes. All three bedroom windows, bathroom window, kitchen window and doors and conservatory were all condensation free, unbelievable. If you have any condensation problems fit one of these. You wont regret it.

I will be honest, I didnt expect this to work as well as some of the previous reviews, It arrived quickly and well packaged, came with good instructions, fitted and up and running within an hour. My house is a solid brick construction and has always suffered with heavy condensation to the windows. The unit is quiet up to speed setting 4 of 6. During the very cold days the unit will blow out cold air from the loft but its not too bad as its heated a bit to take the edge off. It took only two days for my house to be completely condensation free. An excellent buy Id recommend this to anyone suffering damp and condensation issues.

I was in my sick bed recovering from a very bad chest infection, when I saw the DPD local delivery van pull up outside of my driveway. The driver was very careful in how he handled this bulky parcel, and very diligently carried it past my car. My Wife received it,but being disabled, asked the driver to put it in a place out of the way of the door. She came into my room after the driver left and said he was a real canny lad and was extra careful how he handled the package. Upon further recovery the next day,I ventured to have a look at the parcel, and heard the sound of broken eggshells from inside the box! Somehow, and it doesnt matter how,the backbox for the remote switch was shattered into lots of small pieces, and were rattling around causing further damage to the other parts, just minor, but damage nevertheless. I contacted i-sells.co.uk soon as I could, and immediately received a nice reply and apology from Kevin,at the company. All he required was the serial number of the machine, and that was that!! My finger had hardly pressed the send button on the e-mail,when I received a mail telling me a replacement unit was on its way,to be delivered today!! I only replied to Kevin yesterday morning after 11-0am,and the parcel arrived intact this afternoon!!! I forgot to state that the original order was processed and delivered within 2 days, with several update e-mails on the progress of the order! This is the second time I have dealt with this company and would recommend them to anyone!. It will be very hard to find another company so dedicated to customer care and after-sales service!! They have no fear of ever losing their reputation with this sort of service! Well done to i-sells,and Kevin,[and Cory, who dealt with me on a previous order!] NOW!,seeing as I am still recovering from being ill,I havent fitted the unit, but it is well made and designed, sturdy, the power supply is now built onto the machine very neatly,so no need for brackets to screw it onto a joist,as previously advertised. Everything about all the separate components, tells me that this machine will do its job fuss-free!! Once it is up and running,I will report in detail on its performance,in dealing with my condensation and mould problems in my bungalow. Up to now, five stars for a five-star company and team!! Bill.

Nice unit, easy to install. Unfortunately the string suspension supplied is not man enough. I replaced it with a gripple and 2 x eye hooks
Daniel Wells (verified owner) –
Item was pretty much as expected, a couple of very minor niggles for me was that my lath and plaster ceilings were thicker than a typical plasterboard ceiling and so cutting a hole left no stable ceiling to screw this to, a small wooden ply support was made and it all now securely sits in the loft. The supplied 3amp fused spur socket is not great quality with a poor cable cord grip, both fairly minor points and not show stoppers. Performance is good, the fan is quite quiet and does as expected. Overall am pleased with the item. Service from i-Sells was very good and fast delivery, no complaints at all and will use again.

Having recently gone to all the extent to seal up all the drafts in the house we started to suffer with condensation on the windows. Got sick of going around in the mornings with the old Karcher so started to do a bit of research and came across the DRIMASTER ECO with HEAT. With all the positive reviews we bit the bullet and placed our order. 2 days later it arrived and I set about installing it. I found this easy to install with limited DIY skills and easily paired the system with the separate remote switch. The following morning VOILA, no more condensation problems. Not ran it with the heat as yet as wanting to keep the running costs as low as possible but I have no hesitation in recommending this unit. The whole process with i-sells from order to delivery was 1st Class.
Paul Thomas (verified owner) –
The product worked as expected. However, it didnt come with a full installation / instruction manual. Which is not I-sells fault, but the manufacturer. I have still to receive a full instruction manual. Which would allow me to resolve an issue I had with the unit and to correctly configure it.

Easy to install, up and running witin an hour. So far impressed with the results, a vast improvement in the reduction of condensation in the property. Waiting for the colder nights to set in to see if this does the job but so far so good.

Mr Customer (verified owner) –
Highly recommended product. Have grappled with high humidity in my solid walled detached house for over 5 years. The results have been areas of mould, streaming windows, fabrics that are cold to touch etc. Despite making efforts to address this including improving the heating, adding trickle vents to windows, leaving windows open, improving extraction in bathrooms/kitchen and running a dehumidifier 24/7 could never fully resolve the issues. Within hours of fitting this PIV unit the air quality in the immediate area of the diffuser was noticeably improved. After a week of running, humidity levels have consistently dropped by around 10% (measured at multiple points around the house) and the environment is hugely improved in all the areas where I suffered previously. On reflection, shouldve just bought a PIV system years ago. If you have a situation like mine, dont procrastinate any further – buy!

Cleared really bad condensation in 2 days and has kept the house clear! Not too difficult to fit, did it in a couple of hours
Karl Karl (verified owner) –
Early days yet, only been fitted a week. No condensation first two days, but very cold next night and some condensation on windows (but also had wet washing indoors) so turned up air flow from 3 to 4. The house definitely feels drier and airier. Feels a little draughty on the landing and cooler than usual but not uncomfortably so. No noise from fan (and believe me my partner has ears like a bat, especially for sub-sonic hum so this was a major concern) we can only hear the sound of rushing air. Slight loft smell initially which has all but gone now. I installed this unit myself and was pretty simple to do; ran a spur off the lighting circuit to a twin socket, fitted a plug with a 5a fuse and suspended unit from a rafter on the supplied cord. No probs-an easy DIY if you are comfortable with electrics and dont mind working in the loft. Will be buying another unit for a rental property with bad mould and condensation problems. Also daughter wants one too, so will be fitting one for her. I have given 4 stars as I have not had the unit running long, and time (and Winter) will tell if it deserves 5 stars. I hope so.

Found this unit not as straight forward to fit as the instructions make out. If fitting the diffuser to a new plasterboard ceiling it should be straightforward but with an old lathe and plaster ceiling it was a fiddle. Could have done with some more material sticking through into attic to accept the heater unit. I used a straightened wire clothes hanger instead of nylon line supplied to suspend filter unit. Getting the flexible ducting to fit on this filter unit took two of us! Felt a bit like fitting a 26inch diameter tyre to a 27inch dia rim, the nylon ties are fairly substantial so are a bit stiff to tighten to keep ducting in place. Have tried it out, but set fan to 4 setting which seemed too much as blast of air coming through was cold, temp gauge registered 59deg with humidity at 61%. Before fitting humidity had been up to 80% with 62degrees although temp outside was warmer. We have an unfelted attic so plenty of air but this time of year (November) cold. Will try increasing temp and reduce flow. This might quieten the fan as well because at 4 setting I wouldnt say its silent.

The house suffered really bad from condensation on the windows and doors. Every morning having to get the karcher vac out was a real pain. After fitting this unit all I can say is WOW. The next morning just a few droplets at the bottom of the glass. The morning after that nothing at all. The house just feels so much better. Would recommend
David Stock (verified owner) –
It cleared condensation overnight. I have a 3 bed bungalow with no fans etc. Started at fan level 3 overnight with mid point heat and down to constant fan level 2 after one night. Hardly audible and so effective that I dont need any windows open now or even the trickle vents. Easy to fit as long as you realise that the ceiling template is within the packaging that I had thrown in the bin! As the hole is elliptical, I had to empty the bin! Even the cord and hook for hanging from purlins etc, is included. Fantastic product.

We installed this in our two bedroom semi and it has certainly cured the condensation. It takes a bit of adjusting initially to decide on an air flow that will suit your property in terms of temperature and so on but it does the job. Try and get it right during the day or youll be up and down ladders during the night to adjust! It certainly was worth purchasing after an extreme case of black mold in our home.
Carl Jephcote (verified owner) –
Brilliant. No condensation on windows anymore. I was sceptical it would work as I had been running a dehumidifier and emptying that on a daily basis and the windows still had condensation on them in the morning! Now I dont run the dehumidifier and have reduced the air flow setting from 3 to 2 in my 3 bed house. Humidity now at 49 – 52% Couple of minor draw backs. I have the heated version the incoming tempered air is still quite cold. Which lowers the temp in the hallway. Second is the price. £340 is a lot for a large fan and some basic electronics.

live in a 2 bed bungalow the windows were constantly wet with condensation and mold was starting to develop around window and door, fed up with having to put the window on vent in cold weather to try and clear it, so decided to splash out and get the drimaster eco vent, noticed a vast improvement immediately, I was restricted on a suitable location due to the small hall, this has reduced the effect of the unit but on the number 4 speed setting the kitchen and living room are generally free of condensation, still a small amount on the bedroom windows but this is due to the limited option of a suitable fitting location. Worth the cost as without it the mold would have gotten out of hand.

I live in a 1920s three bed semi. I dont have damp walls but in the winter the windows were so heavy with condensation that I used a vax thing to hoover all the water off and getting a couple of tanks full. My humidity was in the house was generally over 70%. I therefore decided to try this gadget (I like gadgets). It was reasonably easy to fit despite some lathe and wattle ceilings and it looks quite unobtrusive in the hall. The first thing I noticed was that on high it really does cool the stair well and it is very noticeable noisy. However it did reduce the humidity into the low sixties. As time has gone on I have reduced the setting to 2 and it is no longer noticeable at all. The humidity has gradually come further down over the months and I am now routinely under 50%. I also only get condensation on the windows after very cold night. However, it is only about an inch at the bottom which clears itself quite quickly as the day warms up. Ive had now had this for about six months and I really do think its made a massive difference although you need to give it time. Definitely recommend.

This was delivered next working day…I fitted the system myself and within 2 weeks has cured our condensation problems.. Damp areas on walls and windows have gone, internal doors fit better again, laminate flooring had become mousey when you walked on it, now back to normal. Also air quality is much better, stale food smells do not linger..We have an open plan living area so this is really helpful….In fact It is only when you have removed the issues that you realise how good this system is…Great value for money too…I highly recommend this….

I’m really impressed with the NuAire Dri Eco Heat. Over the winter the windows were always had condensation on them and since having a new front door the house was sealed up which was leading to some mould forming around the door and windows. Once the unit was fitted I saw an improvement within the first day. I set the unit to 3 and the next day I turned it down to 2 which is sufficient for my 2 bed bungalow. I did fit one on the plastic diverters as my central heating thermostat was quite close and I felt the cooler air was blowing onto it. Once the diverter was fitted though this solved the problem. The unit went into standby one day but this was because the loft had reached a higher temperature, the unit kicked in that night though. I’m impresssed how the unit has got rid of almost all condensation on the windows and how it keeps the house fresh. It does make the hallway slightly cooler even with the heat, I don’t mind this though as the benefits outweigh this. I added the controller switch which allows you to boost the unit bringing more fresh air into the house. It’s a considered purchase, but if you have condensation problems I would seriously consider this, I wish I had got it years ago. The unit is almost silent on speed 2, I can’t hear it on a night. The service from I-sells was superb, the unit arrived within a couple of days with a follow up email. Overall 5 stars !

Having had the OLD green Drimaster Heat in use in my house for 5 years and being very impressed with how such a simple fan setup can keep the house fresh and dry I was getting frustrated with having to get the loft ladders out to access the loft to change the fan speed etc. Once in the loft this would involve the awkward task of navigating the loft insulation and beams to get to the fan unit where the controls for the fan were. In the warmer months and spring I have the fan speed set on speed 6 which is the maximum setting as a like the house to be well aired and fresh. YouTube overview: The concept: The fan is mounted at a central point in the house, usually the hall or landing. This fan pulls air from the loft that is generally a few degrees warmer than outside even in winter months and this fresh air is used to ventilate the house. You can keep your windows closed as the house is not air tight so think of your house like a balloon with small holes in it, the fan blows air into the balloon blowing it up slightly but this balloon has holes in it which represent the gaps in the house structure so gaps in windows, floor boards & under doors. Fresh air is pumped in and slightly pressurises the house (like blowing a balloon up slightly) and mixes and dilutes with the moist air (from drying washing, cooking, cleaning, bathrooms and breathing) already in the house. This then escapes through the aforementioned gaps keeping the house fresh and dry in the process. The result is that mould and damp are simply removed from the house, even odours from cooking/bathrooms or those bedroom smells you get on a morning do not build up if internal doors are left ajar as the air is constantly replaced. Even windows don’t steam up or if they do they clear very quickly come the morning. A house with dry air in is cheaper to heat than a house with damp musty stale air in so energy bills come down. In the winter I set it down to speed 3 as the air coming into the house naturally has a lower moisture content due to being colder. I then saw that the newly designed Drimaster ECO heat was now available to buy which has generally modernised the controls and look. Separately is an option to buy a neat modern looking remote switch which allows you to control the Drimaster from your landing. iSells: Firstly the service from iSells has been fantastic, I have used them before to purchase a bathroom extractor fan and the good customer service back then was reciprocated once again now. I highly recommend them for your ventilation needs as they also offer great advice if you are involved in any ventilation projects at home or commercially. They communicated well with me and I was told along the way when the item was dispatched etc. so I could prepare for delivery and make sure I was in. Once the package had arrived I noted it was very well packaged into a neat box. Installation: if this is your first unit you will require an electrician to do the electrical work however if your competent at DIY then you could mount the fan in the loft and cut the hole in your ceiling plasterboard for the diffuser to fit. This requires a 200mm hole however I made this a couple of mm over so the diffuser would fit in easily. Comparison of the previous diffuser is that this is now round and the old one was a square diffuser. This meant cutting an addition small corner into the existing hole as this incorporates the control PCB. I feel that this could have been built into the diffuser better so that if you was upgrading from the older style Drimaster this would be a straight swap. However once the hole was cut, fitting the diffuser was easy enough, although once again the screw holes from the old diffuser could have been utilised, instead I had to drill new ones, again adding extra time to the swap over. However, the new diffuser looks neater and is thinner it sits closer to the ceiling than the previous square one improving air circulation. I have chosen to use the cord to suspend the fan unit from the rafters in my loft, the closer it is to the roof tiles the better as warmer air rises in the loft so it is likely to benefit from pulling this warmer air layer into the house. You literally put a hook or a screw into the rafter, adjust the length of the cord and then hook the fan unit onto the metal hook on the end of the cord. The fan then just hangs in mid-air; this is the choice of installation for me as this stops any transmission of vibrations into the house if you chose to mount it on the landing ceiling joists. Once the diffuser is in place, the heater unit connects to this, and then this is connected to the diffuser control PCB via the Molex plug. The heater unit clips into place very easily on the top loft side of the diffuser. You then connect the ducting to link the two between the fan unit… see pictures. The heater unit and fan unit are also connected via two connectors one being the power lead and the other being another Molex connector which controls the fan unit. I must say this is a more complicated setup than previous – this has to be the case though due to the controls being mounted on the underside of the diffuser for convenience. This is as far as I can go with the installation now; your electrician then is left to connect the mains power lead to the power point in the loft. This is by means of a fused switch spur on the landing that in my circumstances connects to a plug socket in the loft. As I already had a Drimaster it just involved swapping the mains 3 pin plug from the old Drimaster to the new Drimaster ECO. Previously the heater unit was a separate unit that was controlled independently from the fan and had its own power supply so you could put this on a timer plug to say only run the heater on a morning etc. This is no longer the case if you run it on a timer plug the whole thing fan and all will turn off and the Drimaster fan must run all the time otherwise warmer humid air will rise up the ducting and condense on the cold fan motor and possibly damage the unit. If the fan is off then the house is not being ventilated so you don’t want to turn it off anyway. All that’s left to do is commission and get it up and running.

I was apprehensive at first and a bit worried about the potential noise that this unit would make. I had recently moved from the city to a very rural country cottage so spoiling the new found silence was a definite concern. Im very average with DIY but managed to cut the required hole into a plasterboard ceiling relatively easily. I was fortunate enough to have an electrical socket already in the loft so I just wired a plug on to the supply cable and that was me connected. Due to the only place I could fit the unit, It was located just round the corner from and a small distance away (1.5 meters) from the nearest bedroom door. Due to this I have been able to set mine on full blast (No 6) and I am unable to hear the fan running from my bedroom. Immediately i noticed the back of my aluminium letterbox flap was no longer covered in condensation and that the quality of air in my property seemed much fresher. The cooking smells no longer get into the living room even if the adjoining door is open and the cooking smells dont linger like they used to do in the kitchen. Even with all the internal doors open the only place i can feel a temperature difference is near the defuser in the hallway. My central heating is run of a coal/logs burning stove and the heat can be ridiculous, so walking up the stairs and in the cooler hallway can sometimes be quite refreshing. Within a week of fitting we had a really cold snap that caused the heater to kick in which tempered the lower air temperature in the hallway which seemed to work well and make sense. I initially bought this unit due to the homebuyers report stating about condensation and slight dampness which was causing small amounts of black mould and while its early days, i have full confidence in this item. Just before writing the review I slightly cracked the kitchen window open and held a thin piece of tissue paper (bog roll) next to the gap and lo and behold the tissue paper was being pulled towards the gap which reinforces the fact that the air is being pushed out of the property. Im totally convinced and would definitely have one fitted in any future property that I might purchase.
