Hi do I need this hose clip to fit rigid 100 round ducting.

A Hello Chris Thank you for your question. No this clip is not required. The pipe is a female connection and the bends and spigot connections are male so the pipe will slip over the connections and you just seal with sealant and seal the joints with duct tape. However an alternative product is the QUICK RELEASE WORM DRIVE CLIPS - STEEL - 60-135MM (Product Code: GALFIX-QRWC-60-135). I ordered 2 of these to secure 150 diameter aluminium flexible duct to fan outlet and 90 degree transition piece. On tightening I found that the aluminium duct was being cut by the hose clip creating a leak, so i could not use them. I used 50mm wide White Duck Tape instead.

It is what it is – a metal hose clip. Much cheaper than Ive paid for jubilee clips of this size and the quality is perfectly acceptable. Wouldnt hesitate to buy again.

Held flexible pipe onto connector very firmly and without tearing the pipe, so all good. Only slight negative is that it is quite stiff to tighten (although once tightened Im sure it wont vibrate free which is actually a plus), and needs to be held very firmly whilst doing so, and it takes a fair number of turns to fit a 100mm pipe, and that is not easy in an inaccessible location. My advice, eventually I settled on preparing it for fitting in a comfortable place using an electric screwdriver to screw it smaller than pipe size, then loosening it back off to just larger than the pipe size, in that way when I fitted it into the inaccessible location, there was less resistance and less turns. overall Im happy, the joint is strong and Im confident it will hold the pipe onto the connector

Good product but difficult to fit if using 10cm insulated ducting as this is thicker than the non-insulated ducting. Should a different clip have been suggested? I managed to fit in the end but its difficult as there is not enough slack in the clip to expand it sufficiently. Another 10cm clip I had spare had more adjustment
