Manrose controllers

Fan Speed Controller – Non-Reversible.
The variable non-reversing fan speed control is suitable for controlling the speed of fans providing that the electrical load is not less than 20 watts or more than 200 watts. Fits single pattress 20mm deep.

Incorporating an electronic time delay switch which allows the fan to run on after the room has been vacated and is easily adjustable between 1-20 mins. Fits single pattress 20mm deep.

Humidistat & Timer
The Manrose 1361 Remote Humidistat Fan Timer is suitable for use with any single or combination of Manrose fans without shutters, providing the total electric load is not more than 200W. This control unit combines an overrun timer activated by a switched live connection and an automatic humidistat.
- This unit can be wired for use as humidistat only
- Can be fitted to work with fans and wired into the live supply of the fan
- Converts existing basic fan from most manufacturers to be humidity controlled + Timer unit.
- Requires a permanent live, Switch live and neutral supply

PIR Sensor
Passive infra-red model, sensitive to movement will switch the fan on when someone enters the room and off when the room is vacated. The unit also incorporates a time delay switch, which requires no switched live and is energy efficient.
Range 5 metres.
Fits into a single pattress 20mm deep.
The 1362 Remote PIR Fan Timer Control is suitable for use with any single or combination of fan providing the total electrical load is not more than 100w or less than 20w.
This control unit contains a run timer activated by a passive infra-red (P.I.R) detector. Typically, this would be used in a changing room or bathroom to provide forced ventilation during the entire time the room is occupied, and continuing for a set period after the room is vacated.
The Timer is user adjustable to provide a run-on period of between approximately 20 seconds and 40 minutes

Im trying to understand if I can use the Manrose MF150S fan with both a PIR switch and the Manrose 1361 Remote Humidistat & Timer Controller?
Im hoping the fan will activate by the PIR or the humidity levels and on both activations it will remain running for say 5-10 minutes after.

What is the life expectancy on these humidistats? They have been in use for under 4 year and both have failed. Which seems very poor considering the price. They have only been switching 20w fans

Is the fan neutral just linked to the mains neutral and would using the fan line output into the switched line input of the humidistat work instead of connecting the light in. I have found that the humidistat makes the LED bathroom light flicker.

Please can you tell me the best place for the humidistat to be fitted in the shower room as I have it on the wall close to the ceiling around 4 feet away from the shower. I have the settings set to (on) but it only turns the fan on when I open the shower door for a few seconds after the shower has been running for some time or comes on when I get out of the shower due to that I have opened the shower door to get out! It seems silly for it to work when I have finished my 5 min shower.
Should I fitted it as close to the ceiling as possible or lower down?
Fitted to the ceiling so it points down or fitted on the wall?
Fitted as close as possible to the shower so it picks up the steam quicker?

This is a speed controller for a Manrose ventilation system (extract fan to be precise) and is basically a switch that triggers the extract rate to respond to levels of humidity. Although if you wanted to link it to a playlist, may I recommend:-Mirror in the Bathroom - The BeatSplish Splash - Bobby Darin (Charlie Drake version is funny) Steamy Windows - Tina Turner (but not if you have this controller!)

Once switched on the speed is controlled the same as a dimmer switch for a light.
I have put a Manrose MF100S in the loft which I want to run in conjunction with the existing untimed Greenwood ceiling fan in the bathroom. I have fitted a 1361 humidistat/timer next to the ceiling fan and Ive wired it to the instructions provided, splicing the live/neutral wires of the two fans together. Only the Manrose fan operates so is the controller only capable of controlling one fan?

Only the Manrose fan operates so is the controller only capable of controlling one fan?answer nowA Hello ColinThe humidistat sensor is to all intents and purposes a switch so I can understand why you would think it should run both systems however, manufacturers regularly state that controllers are not cross over compatible with other makes of fan and this would appear to be true in your case. Either that or the Greenwood fan is not compatible with this type of control. Your question indicates you are attempting to boost the extract power from your bathroom and we would recommend that you disconnect the Greenwood and have it light activated and the Manrose separately activated by the Humidistat on a relatively low setting (55%)

Can this controller be used to control a bathroom dehumidifier

A Hi John, This controller is generally used with bathroom fans or in line fans where an electric load is not more than 200W. You would need to check your dehumidifier if it meets the required criteria. You can find More Information Here.Always get a qualified electrician for installation/fitting.
I have just connected the unit and it fails to initiate on timer. We also tried to filled room with steam and no fan operation.
I have by-passed and fan operates fine.
I have altered settings on both timer and humidity stat but no success.

A Hello Anthony, The ip rating is IP42, yes the humidistat controller can be mounted on a ceiling as long as it is outside zones 1, 0 and 2 See Diagram Here (top of the PDF).

Wire terminal connections small (need a watch driver to connect). Humidity and timer adjustment (plastic slots) are weak and subject to damage and you need a magnifying glass to read scale settings on face of unit. Overall design poor in comparison to other similar units although cheaper.

I always buy this unit for my customers. With the correct wiring you can make a fan only come on with humidity (not every time you turn the light on) and this means it will work in the summer when showering in the day without the need for the light as with normal fan installations. The manrose wall humidistat fan is rubbish but this unit works perfectly with a loft fan.
