Vent Axia Heat Recovery Unit Single Room Lo-Carbon Tempra
The Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Tempra through the wall heat recovery units is suitable for fitting through a 102mm (4”) circular hole and are designed for use in bathrooms, toilets and utility areas. Under the new Building Regulations Document F continuous running products, such as the Lo-Carbon Tempra only need to move the amount of air as laid down in table 5.1a of Document F. The Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Tempra is available with pullcord control, timer control or humidistat, timer and pull cord. All models are also available in SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage).
Typical Installation: The Lo-Carbon Tempra unit is designed for installation in a 102mm (4”) core drilled hole. All installation can be carried out from inside the building. The units are suitable for external walls up to 318mm thick.
Range Product Specification
Complies with Building Regulations Part L 2010:
Low energy consumption means the Tempra exceeds the energy-saving requirements in Part L, Conservation of Fuel and Power.
Versatile control:
Switching on/off or from a trickle to boost speeds is possible in several ways: Switched Live, Pullcord or Humidistat. Overrun and delay start timers are also available.
Summer Setting:
The extract-only Summer Setting helps keep you cool by closing off the intake from outside, reducing the amount of warm air entering the dwelling.
Fits 100mm diameter hole:
The Tempra will fit 100mm through the wall applications as a straight replacement for a traditional extract fan.
Continuous or intermittent flow rates:
Air flows can be set to quiet, low-speed continuous rates or high-speed intermittent boost rates.
Low energy consumption, low noise:
The unique twin impeller design consumes as little as 2.0 Watts and operates almost silently on trickle setting.
Long Life ECDC Motor:
The units are fitted with a 24V ECDC motor with a state of the art built-in power supply. This has the ability to operate at only 2 Watts power consumption on normal setting, offering a 90% energy saving over conventional AC equivalents
Maintenance:
Apart from removing odours, providing fresh air and recovering heat, this appliance extracts airborne impurities such as dust, dirt and grease. These gradually build up and detract from the efficiency and appearance of the appliance. To ensure peak performance, the heat exchanger should be cleaned as required in accordance with the instructions supplied.

Im looking at a fan to help to deal with the humidity in a tenanted house, particularly in the bathroom. I specifically want the Humidistat version but also want the option to turn this off, if too noisy in case it comes on at night. I bought this product on Amazon and after installing it, we noticed that the shutter is not opening or closing. The electrician said the little brown piece that pushes the mechanics for opening it is not working. We would like to get that replacement only, rather than replacing the whole unit, which will also cost the electrician to install it again.
Where can I find the piece? I wanted to send a picture, but I do not think it is possible in this format. Please contact me via Email so that I can send you the picture.

Would this product be good for a small bedroom with bad condensation ?

A Hello PeterThank you for your question. This model is not designed to be installed in a bedroom. Our HRV150 is as it has a night sensor so the unit will not boost when you are sleeping. It is classified as a single room system so should be fine for a basement.

The fan is a pull cord version so does not require any other control.
Is this suitable for a ducted application, duct length approx 2 m.

A Hello EamonnLooking at the data sheet it states the unit is suitable for walls 385mm thick. There is no extension kit available and this indicates it may not be suitable.This doesnt mean it cant be done but the likelihood is that the efficiency will be compromised.The Kair K-HRV150 can be extended up to 1 metre and does have an extension kit option however longer than that and air movement is compromised. Depending on the installation limitations either the range of in-line fans or Centrifugal extract systems (some very low energy) such as the Vent Axia Solo range Quick Search QS3284 would be suitable for long duct runs
are there mains voltage and low voltage options available for this model?

Fan is clearly audible at low speed & is quite noisy at boost – Im glad I have a manual pull cord to keep it at low speed unless the shower is/has just been on. I wouldnt put this in an en-suite because it might still be audible at low speed even with the door shut. It does keep steam levels down when showering and on boost speed. Note that even with the heat recovery – the incoming air feels cold – Ive yet to take actual temperature readings though.

This is an easy to fit unit which has clear picture instructions and fitted in the hole my old fan was in with a small adjustment. The bathroom was cold and damp and is now warm and dry. The trickle fan is maybe not the quietest but not noticeable in the general background sounds. The boost is noiser but still quieter than my old extractor. I would recommend it. The only irritation in the whole process was the courier used by i-sells which believes in surcharging those in the north of Scotland a ridiculous amount for delivery. Ironically the free delivery area included a far more remote location where I happen to work just because the letters on the postcode were different. Ludicrous.

Great price, delivered fast and not too hard to fit – be sure to fit a 100mm pipe for it to slide through – this makes installation much easier. Full power is quite loud but the standard low power is acceptable. Not sure you would sleep that easily with it running – hence the four stars, I had hoped it would be quieter. On a cold day the incoming air is noticeably warmer than the outside air temperature.
